Ashghal completes the major works of the Umm Al Seneem Health Center



Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the completion of the main works of the Umm Al Seneem Health Center by the Construction Projects Department, which can serve approximately 600 patients daily in 40 different medical clinics.

The Umm Al Seneem Health Center occupies an area of ​​27,600 square meters and comprises a main building with two levels that covers all clinics, in addition to some auxiliary buildings such as Masjid, support service building, guard building, supervisory staff room, MEP maintenance center, ambulance garage and deployment of 297 parking spaces.

Facilitates people with special needs

Engineer Amal Al Sulaiti from the Building Projects Department said the design took into account people with special needs, including providing signs with bold imagery, Braille symbols for the blind, appropriate washrooms, wide corridors and automatic doors for freedom of movement, reception counters with appropriate height, parking spaces near the main entrances and ramps instead of stairs.

Heritage and Sustainability

Heritage and local culture are also taken into account in the design while ensuring that it meets the highest international standards for fire safety and the sustainability rate of 3-star green buildings.

She added that as part of the state promotion of local products, the proportion of local products used in the project will reach around 40%, and local products include iron, steel, electrical and mechanical tools, and glass, among others.

She also made it clear that the designs of the new health centers meet the high quality and safety standards as well as the standards of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), which take into account design and operational considerations in order to achieve a 3-star environmental quality achieve energy saving and environmental protection, including:

• Use of solar energy to heat water in buildings.
• Use of natural lighting through panoramic openings in the ceilings that allow sunlight to enter, save electrical energy for lighting and clean the room as much as possible.
• Creation of a system to rationalize water consumption inside and outside the building.
• Provision of green areas for plants and trees on the premises of the building.
• Environmental protection during the project implementation phase.

Ashghal implemented six new health projects in 2018, including the construction of five new health centers, namely Al Khor Health Center, Al Wakra South Health Center, Al Sadd Health Center, Al Mashaf Health Center and Umm Al Seneem Health Center, with a total capacity of around 3500 visitors daily , in addition to building the National Health Laboratories building, bringing the total value of the six projects to approximately one billion Qatari riyals.
