A box of Golden Morn became almost a dog-day afternoon for a mother of four in England.
The Essex woman opened a box of the cereal to feed her children but found a giant bag of crystal meth instead, dailymail.com reports.
Haisam Nassir, 25, says when the cereal box stopped pouring, he examined it and found an extra plastic bag full of white crystals inside.
Nassir Googled her discovery to see that it was actually crystal meth.
She later took it to the police, who confirmed the plastic bag contained crystalline methamphetamine, and had all of her children examined by a doctor in the hospital who said they were unharmed.
“I was really shocked,” Nassir told dailymail.com.
“Imagine if that burst it could have been fatal. They’d eaten from that crate for four days straight, and the bag of crystal meth was really thin, a spicy piece of cereal could easily have cut a hole in it. My oldest is very independent and gets her own cereal. She could have eaten it so easily. I could have gone from a mother of four to a mother of none very quickly. “
Nassir, whose children include twins one year old and a two year old and a three year old, said she got the cereal at her local store and has done so without incident for the past six months.
“I usually go in and get two bags. I did that this time too. The first bag I bought was fine, ”she told dailymail.com.
Police, who were investigating in June, found a cut in the bottom of the cereal bag and concluded that the drugs had ended up there.
“It seems very unlikely that the crystals were used in the factory of production (in Nigeria), although this cannot be determined with certainty,” said the authorities’ letter.
The letter also states that a man was arrested on suspicion of the drug offense but has been released and continues to be investigated.
