The report, produced by mortgage lender Veterans United Home Loans, examined 21 metrics to determine how well cities are providing opportunities for veterans and their families as they transition into civilian life.

Some of these dimensions include economic well-being, employment, availability of veteran affairs services, and quality of life for veterans.

The final ranking was determined by calculating the sum of the scores for each city, with the lowest score representing the best city veterans can live in.
