Instead of having to bake and fill an entire pie crust, these accidentally gluten-free treats are wrapped in rice paper and fried on the stovetop. No need to preheat the oven or knead dough; The only thing you need to lift heavy in this recipe is to roll up the apple pie filling in a sheet of rice paper. Once fried, they taste great with a vegan cream cheese dip, according to @chefsummerstorm. This recipe is a must for anyone who loves apple pie.

Gluten-free vegan apple pie dumplings recipe with photos

ingredients

  1. For the apple pie dumplings
    2 cups red apples
    2 TBSP. Brown sugar
    1 teaspoon. cinammon
    1 TBSP. + 1 tsp. cornstarch
    14 rice paper sleeves
    1 TBSP. coconut oil, for cooking
  1. For the cinnamon-sugar coating
    3 TBSP. cane sugar
    1/4 tsp. cinammon
  1. For the cream cheese dip
    3 TBSP. vegan cream cheese, softened
    2 TBSP. vegan butter, soft
    1/2 cup powdered sugar
    1 TBSP. Cashew milk, pure

directions

  1. For the pie filling, peel and slice apples, then mix with brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch.
  2. Place a single sheet of rice paper on a plate and hold it under hot water for no more than five seconds—otherwise it will become too soft to touch.
  3. Place 2 tablespoons of apple pie filling on the rice paper, then roll up like a burrito. Repeat until apple pie filling is done.
  4. In a skillet over medium-high heat, drizzle coconut oil, then add the dumplings. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan as the dumplings may stick together.
  5. Cook the dumplings for about four minutes, then flip them. Cook four more about four minutes.
  6. Brush each dumpling with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. While the dumplings are cooling, prepare the cream cheese dip by mixing cream cheese with butter, powdered sugar, and milk.
  8. Serve the dumplings with the dip and enjoy!
