IKEA product and children’s toy among recalled items in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton area

Mississauga and Brampton residents who shop at IKEA are encouraged to search their homes for an espresso machine sold by the Swedish manufacturer. Health Canada is recalling this item and some items not sold at IKEA, such as a refrigerator, some tabletop fire pits, and a children’s activity toy.

IKEA METALLISK Hob espresso maker 0.4L stainless steel

Risk: The METALLISK 0.4L Stove Top Espresso Maker sold by IKEA has a silver gray stainless steel safety valve located near the base.

The device was recalled due to the risk of burns and injuries. The espresso maker can burst and hot contents escape.

The item number 703.602.25 is printed on an adhesive label on the bottom of the product.

What you should do: Discontinue use immediately and contact IKEA for a full refund.

activity loops

Risk: The Activity Loops toy, manufactured by the Manhattan Toy Company, is being recalled due to a possible choking hazard. Hoses on activity toys can detach and release small parts that pose a choking hazard to small children. The affected products are model number 215210 with batch codes: FCN, EAN (found on the underside of the dome-shaped base).

What you should do: Take the toy away from children immediately and stop using the product. To arrange for product return, contact Manhattan Group LLC at 1-800-541-1345 Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (CST) and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CST).

Hisense brand freezer, fridge with French door

Risk: Hisense-branded French Door refrigerators with a capacity of 26.6 cubic feet are being recalled due to a potential impact hazard. With some products, the refrigerator door hinge may break.

The fridge in question is stainless steel with an ice maker, internal water dispenser and bottom freezer.

The refrigerators have a label inside above the water dispenser with the unit’s model and serial number.

The recalled refrigerators have a model number of “RF26N6AFE” and a serial number that begins with either 1B0740Z0041JBDEMD, 1B0740Z0041JBDFTU, or 1B0740Z0041JBDFTV followed by six digits.

What you should do: Contact Hisense Canada to schedule a service technician to replace the refrigerator door hinges.

Exothermic designs concrete table fire pits

Risk: Exothermic Designs concrete tabletop fire pits are being recalled for lack of appropriate labeling and hazard information.

The recall includes three variants of the table fire pits.

The products are cylindrical or hexagonal concrete shapes with a cavity in the middle and gray colouring.

The large concrete tabletop fire pit is approximately 5″ tall x 4.5″ wide, the mini concrete fire pit is approximately 4″ tall x 4.25″ wide and the hexagonal tabletop fire pit is approximately 4.25″ tall cm high x 10.16 cm wide.

The portable fireplaces do not have the required marking under the Standard Specification for Non-Vented Portable Apparatus Burning Liquid/Gel Fuels or equivalent marking. As a result, it could contribute to a flame ejection incident and result in serious illness, injury, or death.

What you should do: Immediately stop using the recalled fire pit and contact Exothermic Designs via email [email protected] to learn the next steps.
