The Duchess of Cambridge made a special surprise visit to a children’s hospital in central London on Friday night for some anniversary cheering for his patients, it turns out.

There Kate met a number of children and their families who were unable to attend Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations this weekend.

The official account of Evelina Children’s Hospital posted on Twitter: “We got a very special surprise last night! Our Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, stopped by on a private visit to meet our patients, families and staff who were unable to attend the celebrations this weekend.”

Kate paid a special surprise visit to Evelina London on Friday night
Kate, who has been the hospital’s patron since 2018, was seen in accompanying photos wearing a mask and a figure-flattering red dress as she posed for photos with the parents of one of the hospital’s very young patients.

It’s not the first time Kate has visited the children’s hospital, which is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, from which the Queen is patron. She most recently paid a public visit in early 2020, ahead of the pandemic, to take part in a creative arts workshop with patients that resulted in a young boy snapping a rare Polaroid photo of the king.

She’s also been incredibly vocal in supporting the hospital’s fundraising efforts. In the past she has written a number of heartfelt letters to thank and congratulate those who have raised thousands of pounds for the NHS hospital, which treats children with complex and rare conditions from birth to adulthood.
It’s not known when Kate snuck off on the secret solo outing, but it’s likely she was there with her husband sometime after the Queen’s Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral Prince William and children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
