Reality star and business mogul Kim Kardashian West is one of the first in the US to try Nestlé’s new vegan KitKat bars – and she’s obsessed with the vegan goodies. Kardashian West recorded her Instagram stories and shared her gift from Nestlé with her 229 million fans when she unwrapped a personalized box of vegan KimKats.

“If anyone knows me, my favorite candy is a KitKat. Kourtney showed you how we eat them, ”said Kardashian West. “But folks, they called it ‘Kim Kat’ – the first vegan KitKat. You have no idea how happy that makes me. ”

While the star enjoyed the candy bar, it’s unclear if she ate the Kardashian-style vegan KitKat, which is a complicated six-step process of eating the bar one layer at a time.

KitKat bars are vegan

At the beginning of the year, rumors were circulating in mid-February that Nestlé was launching a vegan KitKat. Speculation became a reality shortly afterwards when the company confirmed it was working on KitKat V to appease social media fans who have been calling for vegan KitKat bars for years. The new KitKat V is a combination of vegan chocolate and vegan waffle fingers and was developed by Nestle’s research and development team in York, UK, where the original KitKat was first introduced in 1935.

“KitKat continues to surprise people with new flavors and ingredients,” said Alexander von Maillot, head of the confectionery department at Nestlé. “One of the most common requests we see on social media is a vegan KitKat, so we’re excited to make this dream come true. This is for everyone who wants something more herbal in their life when they treat themselves to something. “

KitKat vegan bars were launched in grocery stores across the UK earlier this week. The vegan delicacies can also be pre-ordered in Australia as a nine-piece gift box set (AUS $ 30) before the vegan KitKat bars officially appear in Woolworths stores on July 26th. The KitKat V bars will also be available in Estonia, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania this month, and Brazil in July.

“Our challenge in developing a vegan-friendly KitKat was to recreate this iconic product with plant-based alternatives. To achieve this, we have worked very hard to find the right balance between the milk alternative and cocoa, ”said Louise Barrett, Head of the Nestlé Confectionery Technology Center. “The result is a vegan chocolate that we are very proud of and I hope that all KitKat fans will love it as much as we do.”

While Kit Kat bars are made by Nestlé in most regions, the iconic chocolate goodies are made in the US by Hershey’s, which has not announced its intention to launch vegan KitKat bars in the US. In February, however, Hershey committed to developing more options in the “better for you” category, which includes plant-based alternatives, meaning a vegan kit kat is not entirely off the table in the US.
