The latest lip kits are on the way, but they’ll be a little different. On Saturday June 27th, Kylie Jenner announced on Instagram that her makeup line Kylie Cosmetics was receiving a “VEGAN and CLEAN” update. Jenner posted a promotional photo applying a new set of lips and saying in the caption that “some of you may have noticed my @kyliecosmetics website has been closed for a little overhaul”. The reality star added that after starting her company when she was just 17, she “felt it was time to get up.”
Jenner shared with fans that she “worked hard creating the latest innovative formulas for you guys” and “is so excited to share them with all of you soon!” The make-up mogul received supportive messages from her sisters in the comments about the decision to live vegan and animal-free. ”
Kylie Cosmetics’ Instagram page started from scratch in May and deleted all old posts up to that point. The makeup brand posted a photo of Jenner posing against a pink background on Instagram with the caption, “Something’s Coming.” On June 18, Kylie Cosmetics posted a photo of the new lip kits and wrote that it would be “lightweight, smudge-proof, 8-hour wear.” On June 23, the brand gave another glimpse into the new products, assuring fans that the lip kits would be “any nuances you love refreshed and reformulated”. The new products will have a âreal matt, non-sticky finishâ and will be âvegan, cruelty-free, gluten-freeâ.
The first Kylie Lip Kit was launched in 2015 with three liquid lipsticks and a set of corresponding liners. Jenner launched the trio in a test run with only 5,000 units of each color and the products were an instant hit, sold out instantly, and it was six months before the next batch. The next year, the reality star was able to expand the product line and began developing Kylie Cosmetics into a multi-million dollar company.
In early June, Andy Cohen asked Jenner about the role her “lips and insecurities around her” played in starting her career in the beauty industry during the Keeping up with the Kardashians Reunion. Jenner agreed that her insecurities about her lips had partially inspired her beauty project. âI never thought about it until I had one of my first kisses and a guy said to me, ‘Oh my god, you’re such a good kisser but you have such tiny lips,’ or something like that. âShe said,â From then on, I didn’t feel vulnerable anymore. âThe exchange eventually led her to anâ obsession with makeup. âShe added,â I painted my lips and it just made me feel confident. “
Jenner told Cohen she had overcome her insecurities and said, “I obviously don’t think about it now.” The founder of Kylie Cosmetics appears to have turned her attention to creating new products for consumers.
