Nestle has announced the upcoming release of a new vegan-friendly KitKat chocolate bar.
The block, mixed with a rice-based milk alternative, will be available for pre-order from Tuesday and will launch locally from July 26th.
The bar was developed by chocolatiers and food scientists at Nestle’s research and development center in the UK, KitKat’s original home.
Joyce Tan, Head of Marketing Confectionery at Nestle, told 7NEWS.com.au that it is an exciting time for KitKat fans, especially those who are vegan in the country.
“We saw so much excitement and anticipation from our fans when plans for the first vegan KitKat were announced earlier this year, so I’m very excited to announce that KitKat V is coming to Australia,” said Tan.
“We’re always looking for ways to take Aussies meaningful breaks, so the KitKat team is excited to offer a delicious alternative for anyone looking to enjoy a plant-based break.”
KitKat V is certified as vegan by the Vegan Society. Like the rest of the KitKat range, it is made from 100 percent certified sustainable cocoa sourced through the Nestle Cocoa Plan in collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance.
The KitKat vegan chocolate bar will be available for pre-order for the first time on the KitKat Chocolatory website starting Tuesday and will be available nationwide in KitKat Chocolatory and Woolworths Metro stores (MSRP $ 2) from July 26th.
