Nicklaus Children’s Hospital today announced a $ 5 million donation from the VoLo Foundation – a private family trust – to support advances in pediatric surgical care and treatment. In recognition of this generous gift made possible by the co-founders of the VoLo Foundation, David S. Vogel and Thais Lopez Vogel, the hospital will soon be hosting a VoLo Foundation Cardiac and Neurology Floor on the Nicklaus Children’s main campus.
“We are honored to be able to give something back to the hospital that saved our son’s life over 20 years ago,” said David and Thais Vogel. “It is thanks to the great Nicklaus Children’s cardiac surgery team that our son Mitch is here today, leading a full, happy and healthy life. With this donation we want to show our appreciation and do what we can to influence a more valuable life. “
The $ 5 million donation builds on Nicklaus Children’s 70-year legacy in pediatric clinical excellence and supports key advances in the latest medical technologies and innovations, medical education, and surgical operating room expansions that keep each one better will contribute to patient care for future generations.
