A successful Atlanta businesswoman celebrates June 16, which officially becomes a holiday, by releasing a new line of shoes.
Pinky Cole is best known for her Slutty Vegan restaurants. Now she works with Steve Madden.
“It’s long overdue to finally recognize this day as a national holiday,” said Cole Channel 2’s Larry Spruill. “There is nothing more beautiful in the world than to be free. We have been fighting for our freedom for years.”

This freedom allows Cole to express himself as a business woman.
“As an entrepreneur and as a Black entrepreneur, I have a responsibility to continue to show what freedom looks like,” said Cole.
Cole recently teamed up with footwear brand Steve Madden to release a limited edition vegan sneaker.
“I’m glad we did that because not only did we show people that we could do it, but we gave vegans the opportunity to have some shoe options,” said Cole. “Because I know that as a full vegan, it’s really hard for me to go out and find shoes that I really like.”
“It’s all vegan, and that’s the most important part, and it’s endorsed by PETA,” said Cole.

The shoe is designed in the characteristic colors white, red and yellow as well as the classic slogan print.
“I feel encouraged to continue the work because I know how hard my ancestors had to work and sacrifice their lives, careers and families to ensure I live the life I live today,” Kohl said.
Cole said she uses her platform to empower other people. She used her own employees as shoe models.
