“Thank you” to the police and lifeguards in Asbury Park, New Jersey

Hope you had a safe and successful summer 2021!

Time flies like in flight! It feels like it was yesterday when we started Memorial Day Weekend with a LIVE broadcast on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. The team at 94.3 The Point appreciate the ability to broadcast from the boardwalk every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. We’ve been doing shows about a hundred yards from the Convention Hall for almost ten years! It wouldn’t be possible without the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce and the great team at New Jersey Natural Gas.

Seriously, a radio studio on Asbury Park Promenade ?! How cool is that!

Now that we are wrapping up our Boardwalk shows for the 2021 season, it’s imperative that I highlight the Asbury Park police and lifeguards. Two ungrateful jobs to talk about …

Starting with the police. Asbury Park has grown to be one of the most popular towns on the Jersey Shore and during the summer the beach is filled with thousands of unique people. Some beach goers are locals, but a lot of people come from all over the place. For example, at the beginning of the summer a couple from Switzerland came over to say hello in our studio. Asbury Park Police Department really does a fantastic job of welcoming everyone. They do their best to protect everyone on the beach and boardwalk. They are helpful, friendly and make sure people enjoy their stay at Asbury Park. It always feels good to be waved at by the police when they walk or drive past our studio. Thanks to the Asbury Park Police! Thank you for making thousands upon thousands of people feel safe in a unique environment …

Let’s not forget the lifeguards. I can’t tell you how many people came to the Boardwalk studio and asked for a band-aid. I always send them to the lifeguards. You’d think they just sit in the sun and relax all day, but the job is a lot tougher! They’re bright and early on the beach before anyone even sets foot on the sand. They check the tides and currents and are the main reason Asbury Park has one of the safest swinging beaches on the Jersey Shore. They’re just great people too. Thank you to the lifeguards for investing their time and effort, your commitment does not go unnoticed.

My last Boardwalk show will be on Saturday, October 2nd, 10 am-3pm. We’ll be there for the Zombie Walk. I’ll see you there, I can’t wait! – Jimmy G

Asbury Park ?! Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its pros and cons, which made us think about what makes a beach town the best to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, comparing US beach towns. The ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The towns had a population of 10,000 to 150,000, but at least one local beach had to be listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. We have selected the top 50 from these rankings. Readers who live in California and Florida will not be surprised that many of the cities featured here are in either of these two states.

Read on to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
