The 2021 Wellth Report examines how consumer needs have changed due to the pandemic, particularly in terms of sleep quality and stress
NEW YORK, Dec 16, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Thorne HealthTech (NASDAQ: THRN), a leader in developing innovative solutions for a personalized approach to health and wellbeing, today released the results of its national longitudinal study Wellth Report 2021, which examines how consumer health and wellness priorities have shifted during COVID-19.
More than half (67%) of respondents said they have continued to experience the negative effects of COVID-19 on their personal health and well-being over the past year and a half. However, there is a growing momentum among adults, especially Millennials, embracing new solutions to improve their health. In fact, an overwhelming majority (89%) of respondents have attempted to improve at least one area of ââtheir health in the past 12 months, and this continues as they set future health goals.
“At Thorne HealthTech, we have long believed in a forward-looking approach to health,” said Onegevity, a division of Thorne HealthTech, CEO Dr. Nathan Price. âPreventive measures are critical to improving life expectancy and quality of life. The Wellth report makes it clear that many people suffer from burnout and exhaustion and that regaining control begins with prevention. “
Despite a strong desire to lead healthier lifestyles, sleep quality and mental health remain major challenges for adults. Although both women and millennials are exposed to higher levels of stress and anxiety, millennials make more progress in coping with stress. Fifty-five percent of adults rate their sleep quality as adequate or poor and 38% rate their mental health as adequate or poor, and these numbers are higher among women, younger people, and those with lower income groups. Respondents articulated how stress negatively affects all aspects of their health and well-being, including sleep quality – and vice versa. the Wellth Report 2021 also found:
Millennials (40%), women (47%) and people with an annual income of less than $ 50,000 (47%) are much less likely than their colleagues to believe that their sleep quality is under their control. Likewise, millennials (36%), women (47%) and people with an annual income of less than $ 50,000 (43%) are also less likely to believe that their stress level is in their control.
Two in five Americans say they feel stressed more than half the time, and of those three in five say they feel rested less than half the time – a significant increase from the benchmark study six months earlier.
Looking ahead to the next six months, more than a third consider improving sleep quality and reducing stress levels to be among the top three health and wellness priorities.
“The Wellth report also highlights the need for data-driven, personalized solutions for consumers who are actively seeking tools to help them prioritize their health and wellbeing,” said Thorne HealthTech CEO. Paul Jacobson. “Younger generations are leading the trend here and have placed renewed emphasis on their health and well-being in the last two years. While consumers want to be more committed to their health, knowing where to start can be overwhelming – we want to empower them to make changes now that will pay off in the future. “
The results and effects of the Wellth Report 2021 will be discussed on December 16 at the 2:00 p.m. EST in partnership with INC. You can register for the virtual webinar here. Paul Jacobson and dr. Nathan Price will summarize the results of the report, address current trends in health and wellness, and highlight specific steps companies can take to future-proof their businesses and ensure a healthy and productive workforce. Survey results are always subject to a certain degree of sample fluctuations. The margin of error for this study is 2.2 percent, calculated using the 95 percent confidence interval, which means that if the survey was conducted 100 times, the percentage of a given answer 95 percent of the time will be between 47.8 and 52.2.
