Registration for Columbia Gas’ budget plan is ongoing
Columbia Gas has announced that all customers can enroll in the 2022-2023 budget plan. In August, customers can sign up for the budget plan in three ways: simply pay the “Budget Payment Amount” on their August bill; online at ColumbiaGasOhio.com/Budget; or call 1-800-344-4077 to speak to a customer service representative. With the budget plan, customers can avoid higher heating costs in winter by spreading payments over 12 months. After registration, from August 2022 to July 2023, customers will pay the budget payment amount listed on their monthly bill. The budget payment amount is the same every month, taking the guesswork out of budgeting and avoiding increased heating bills during the winter season. The accounts will be checked for accuracy in March and adjusted if necessary.
Each customer’s budget plan amount is calculated individually by considering their past consumption rates, 30-year typical weather, and current and estimated natural gas costs. The budget plan is free and open to all Columbia Gas customers.
For customers who need assistance, Columbia Gas would like to remind customers that the Ohio Department of Development, in cooperation with PUCO, has increased the income payment plan (PIPP) percentage from 150% of the federal poverty line to 175%. . PIPP is a payment reduction program that allows eligible customers to pay as little as 5% of their monthly income, or $10, for their gas service each month.
