Victims identified as result of death in attacks at the Missoula sheriff’s office

Ravalli County Sheriff and Coroner Steve Holton issued a press release Friday afternoon describing the victim of a fatal shooting at the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office on May 29.

The victim was identified as Johnny Lee Perry II from Missoula. The Ravalli County’s Coroner’s Office is conducting the coroner investigation, which is common practice when another agency’s staff is involved in a death in custody. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation is also conducting an independent investigation.

An autopsy was performed earlier this week by pathologists from the Montana Division of Forensic Science. The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology studies.

Sheriff Holton thanked the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office for their cooperation and assistance in the investigation. The completed investigation will be made available to the Missoula County Attorney for a coroner investigation.

LOOK: Here are the best seaside towns to live in

Many of the enclosed cities strike the casual observer as popular summer vacation rental spots – Branson in the Ozarks, Missouri, or Lake Havasu in Arizona – it might surprise you to delve deeper into some of the quality of life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You will likely acquire some knowledge of a wide variety of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida city that began as a retirement area for Civil War veterans; an island with some of the best public schools in the country and wealthy people in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town with a lot more than Johnny Cash’s prison blues.
